完形认知是指以完形为参照的认知方式。完形认知与名词的数范畴有着密切的关系，名词的数范畴是名词所指事物的数量特征在语言中的反映，以完形认知为指导可以正确认识名词所指事物的数量特征，并进而正确认识英语名词数范畴的可数性特征、数意义和形义关系，为统一解释英语各类名词的可数性特征、数意义和形义关系提供认知理据。

Gestalt-based cognition refers to cognition with gestalts as the reference point. It is closely related to the number categories of nouns, which are the reflection of the quantitative characteristics of the things denoted by nouns in language. From the perspective of gestalt-based cognition, the quantitative characteristics of nouns and the countability, number meaning and form-meaning relations of nouns can be correctly understood. And this will result in providing the cognitive motivation for a unified account of the countability, number meaning and form-meaning relations of English nouns.
