As a significant extension of Marxist cultural theory, Xi Jinping’s Cultural Thought constitutes a theoretical synthesis of the CPC’s leadership in cultural development in the new era. Central to this framework is the notion of empathetic power, which functions as an endogenous force for facilitating intellectual and cultural dialogue among the state, the nation, and the people. This empathetic capacity is manifested in practices of narrative resonance, rational deliberation, and the sharing of collective hardships and aspirations. By enabling cultural empathy at the affective, cognitive, and practical levels, Xi Jinping’s Cultural Thought underscores the distinctive emotional characteristics of Chinese culture. In turn, it enhances the global appeal, communicability, and influence of Chinese culture, thereby advancing the Party’s project of ideological and cultural work and opening new trajectories for cultural governance in the new era.
